Homework 1

  1. Decide on your project, and plan it out in detail:  what's in the header, the footer, how many columns, what's in each column, what specific information it processes (usernames and passwords, details on books or cars or events or what have you, etc.), how it's input, how it's output, a description of the look and feel including colors (use some), background colors and images (use one or both), fonts (use some)-- everything I'd need in order to know exactly what your web site is and does.  This is your requirements document.

For help on deciding on the look and feel, you might look over Joomla! themes like these, or WordPress themes.
  2. Now make a web page that that conforms to your look-and-feel specification at least in so far as it has a distinct header area, footer area, either left column or right column or both, and main content area.  Put a background image in the header, and an appropriate title near the top.  Use text justification, fonts, colors, and font sizes, and have some image in the text, relevant or not.

The content of the web page should be your requirements document for your project.

You can see my solution for some hints.  Background images are good for the header, or for content area if they don't make text hard to read.

Remember to make a title of the page that's reasonable (use the <title> tag).

Put this in a folder with your name on it (something like "John Smith Homework 1"), zip it up, and mail it to me
