Class information:

Motivation:

• to understand 3-D computer graphics
• to gain a practical grasp of MSWindows programming
• to make kick-*** games

Grading:

The grading is all based on your project.  Here's what I'm thinking:

• Requirements document: 7%  Here's an example. 
• Design document: 7%
• Schedule 5%
• Adhering to schedule 7%
• Assignments: 12%
• Project itself: 55%
• Presentation of project: 7%

Equipment:

Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition; Chrome Remote Desktop if needed. I have code for the textbook, including sound, plus work by John Akpinar, Carsen Mendoza, and me on 3D animated models, on the hydra drive (\\hydra\Dept_Resources\Computer Science\briggs\365; this works in a MS Windows window, not a browser, and you have to be in the lab).

You will want headphones or speakers so you can hear sound on the lab machines.

Working in teams:

When you make your design document, you'll specify who's doing what.  Break it down in such a way that you aren't waiting on anyone else to finish before you can start!  This also will help us in that if someone doesn't come through, the rest of the program will still work, and I can give credit where credit's due.

Policies:

• Assignments are due at class time of the due date.  If you turn it in on time, you can have 2 business days to turn in an updated version with a 5 point penalty.  If you want to turn in a late version, please say so when you turn in the on-time version.
• Absences:  You can have 4 of them.  If you have more, you are withdrawn from the class.    We can deal with special circumstances such as an out-of-town game if you tell me in advance.
• Coming late/leaving early counts as half an absence, online or IRL.
• Handouts and assignments will be on Moodle. 
• How to turn in an assignment:  I'll take emailed documents and I'll want the project itself on a Google Drive link
• Cheating is dealt with by the Honor Board. How much help is too much with an assignment? If you're stumped on a problem, and someone shows you how to solve a similar one, that's OK. If you're shown how to solve your problem, that's too much.
