DELL 104A Rubric for Writing Assignments

An appropriate paper must express a position on an issue relevant to the assignment (for example, in the stats paper, the position must be "these sources did/didn't use stats correctly") and support it with sound reasoning. It must show competent engagement with all components for the course: your sources, class lecture and/or readings on how to evaluate sources, a personal response to the lecture and readings, and clarity of writing. Your essay has been evaluated on the quality it shows in content, thesis, organization, development, grammar, punctuation, style, and conventional crediting of sources. For best results, follow these criteria carefully.

1.         The paper presents a clearly stated thesis that shows your personal response to the assigned question (if any) or an interesting question (if none is assigned).
