Lynchburg College’s Computer Science program offers a variety of distinctive special-topics classes, such as Web Programming, Games Programming, and Event-Driven (Windows) Programming, in addition to an unusually strong core curriculum featuring two semesters of Data Structures (I and II). Another distinction is the Senior Project class: each major is required to complete a significant research or software development project of his/her own choosing. Students also do research and development in other classes or outside class, some of which has been presented at professional conferences in Virginia, Texas, and Africa.
In addition to a conventional computer science minor emphasizing programming, the Computer Science program offers a minor emphasizing applications, for students who may become network professionals or business programmers.
